Description

Definition: Composed of magnesium and chlorine and is a typical ionic halide, being highly polar and soluble in water. Hydrated magnesium chloride can be extracted from brine or sea water.

Environmental Impact: Used as recommended, it will not harm vegetation, however magnesium chloride, by percentage, contains 17%-56% more chloride ions than other salt-type deicers.
